We don't get to see a lot of the mental gymnastics that some leads or directors go through, and, a newish lead myself (for a small team, so maybe it doesn't compare...), I empathize and maybe understand the responsibility, pressure, and expectations.

Yeah, I agree- there seems to be a veneer of perfection around many game devs, which, I think, comes from a fear or being seen as an imposter or criticised if we admit to having normal human limits. We are normal humans, though (at least mostly) and it doesn't help anyone to pretend things get done by magic
Totally. I guess it's the industry's culture, plus the peer pressure from multiple stakeholders. But I think, or at least hope, is getting better overall, slowly but surely.
